Snapshow
Springwater 09 Sep 09
The first week of Spring was a cracker. Warm weather and good waves. I saw plenty of Dad's on the Northern Beaches getting amongst the clean 2-3 foot waves on Fathers' Day. They looked pretty stoked to be surfing instead of mowing the lawns, washing the cars and cleaning out the gutters. Hope all you Dad's out there had a great day with the family.
On Monday I filmed a quick interview with Dayyan Neve and Kai Otton for mesurf.com. Dayyan had the whole room laughing for half an hour with his usual antics, so it was a very serious affair. We did however get the low down on their preparation for the coming events of the WCT. Stay tuned for that interview next week. With Luke Stedman back in action after injury, all four of our Northern Beaches surfers will be surfing at the Hurley Pro Trestles event, which kicks off this Saturday. Good luck boys!
Things that get me stoked: A young Japanese/Aussie family rocked up to surf Mona on Sunday, Dad, Mum and the three kids. These boys were all under the age of ten and were there for some surfing lessons from Dad. They were that keen to get out there and the smiles never once left their faces. Their Dad had the biggest smile though, can't get much better than that, a perfect Fathers' Day. Check out the snapshow for some shots of this family of grommets from Dee Why.
Gallery: The Gallery section of the site opened last week, making it much easier to find the images you are looking to buy. Jump in and have a look around - Show me this new Gallery section.
Board Giveaway: The people from DMC Industries have given Blue Snapper a board to pass on to one of our subscribers. The board is a Tom Carroll signature series Softech 5'4" Quad Fish. This board is a perfect addition to your quiver to throw around on these small spring days, or a great board for young kids to learn on. For a chance to win the Softech, simply forward the weekly free subscriber email to 3 of your mates. Click here for all the details.
Rock'n'roll night: On Saturday the 3rd October, in association with EMI records, Glass Avenue is presenting a night of rock'n'roll for the people of the Northern Beaches. With the lineup including: The Scare and The Kickouts aka Radiophobia, this night is all set to go off. Mark it down in your iphone calendars and prepare yourself mentally and physically.
Looks like the waves are going to line up quite nicely for the next three or four days for us Sydney kids. The sun will be out too, keeping us warm right through the weekend. Good stuff!
Have a great week. See you on the beach.
Cheers,
AL
