Snapshow
Dripping Wet 18 Sep 09
East swell, offshore winds, clean barrels, frothy barrels, dry heat, punts, punters, pro's and pro juniors. A week in the life of the Northern Beaches. Another ripper, what an epic place to live.
Pro Junior: Yesterday I spent the day at Manly shooting the Dripping Wet Pro Junior event. The surfers were blowing up. Throwing bucket loads of water around and punting off every little section they could find. Stand out of the day for me was Mitch Crews, with solid turns and ridiculous airs. See some of Mitch's recent antics here. The event continues through this weekend, so get down to Manly and check it out. My snaps from the day will be up here next week.
Hurley Pro: The first few rounds of the Hurley Pro over in Cali has been out of control. With massive upsets, solid performances, pop shuvits and epic commentary from my hoop shooting mate Mitchel Ross. Biggest upsets of the event so far: Rob Machado taking down both Taj and Parko, wow! Most solid performance so far (ignoring that Slater bloke and my bias): Local Northern Beaches inhabitant Kai Otton. Kai had a comfortable win in round one and then a strong win in round three, he is now through to round four against Bede Durbidge. Watch Kai's round three win here. Probably watch Machado vs Parko too.
Nugget Interview: Myself and the crew at mesurf caught up with Ryan 'Nugget' Glen to have a chat on camera about the new look and feel WAVES magazine. WAVES mag does things a little differently to the other mags, and it's one of of the top mags going around. Why? Watch the clip and you will see...
Board Giveaway:The people from DMC Industries have given Blue Snapper a board to pass on to one of our subscribers. The board is a Tom Carroll signature series Softech 5'4" Quad Fish. This board is a perfect addition to your quiver to throw around on these small spring days, or a great board for young kids to learn on. For a chance to win the Softech, simply forward the weekly free subscriber email to 3 of your mates. Click here for all the details.
Now for the bad news... Surf is not looking great for the next little while. Hopefully that is all a big mistake by the swell forecasters in this world.
Have a great weekend. See you on the sand.
Cheers,
AL
