Summer is near 01 Oct 09
The past week on the Northern Beaches included hoax swells, more dust, heaps of dolphins, fun waves, sloppy waves, hot days and cold days. Hope it was a good mix for you.
Beachley Classic: The women's WCT event at Dee Why Beach got underway yesterday in small 2-3 foot waves. Steph Gilmore was the standout as usual on day one of the event. The remaining rounds will be held over the next three days, so get down there to check some of the action out. Or watch it all LIVE here. |

King of the Groms: This event is always exciting to watch, but it rarely gets this ridiculous! Watch Gabriel Medina a 15yr old from Brazil dominating the final over in France. Two perfect 10's...crazy stuff! |
|
Rock'n'roll night: This Saturday the 3rd October, in association with EMI records, Glass Avenue in Newport is presenting an epic night of rock'n'roll for the people of the Northern Beaches. With the lineup including: The Scare and The Kickouts aka Radiophobia, this night is all set to go off. So if you are around the beaches this Saturday night, this is the place to be. |

WCT title race heats up: Mick Fanning has just won his 2nd straight event of the year over in France. This result brings Fanning just 146 points behind Parko in the title race. With only 3 events left this year, it is going to be an exciting finish in Hawaii. Northern Beaches goofy-footer Kai Otton is currently ranked a solid 16th in the world right now, hopefully it all comes together for him at Mundaka next week. | |
BL's Blast Off: This is a pre junior surfing competition which is a fun-filled school holiday program designed and organised by 1988 World Surfing Champion Barton Lynch to celebrate the coming of summer and Australia's rich surfing heritage. In it's 4th year, Blast Off is for boys and girls 14 years and under and promises a holiday activity like no other. The event starts on the 5th October, jump onto the site for all the info. |
Today is going to hit 31 degrees, there are hundreds of people on the beach, nice way to start October. No waves though, new swell coming on Saturday and bringing with it wind and rain. Have an epic long weekend and stay safe on the roads people.
Cheers,
AL
