Snapshow
Surf 'n' Sketch 16 Oct 09
We just had a week of stormy seas and sneaky swells resulting in super fun waves. The offshore winds have been howling and somehow little rideable waves have been sneaking through every now and then. A few fun little banks are even popping up here and there for the crew with their finger on the pulse.
Dayoof:I shot an interview with the very funny and all round top bloke Dayyan Neve for mesurf and here are the outtakes. Enjoy.
Portrait: This week meet the very talented local Mona Vale artist Vinnie Gracanin. Vinnie is one of the only artists left in Australia who works solely in pencil (graphite and colour), he draws elaborate and extremely detailed images without much pre-thought or planning and has exhibited overseas including Germany and the United States.
Rip Curl Pro Search: This event kicks off in 3 days and is all set to go off! So get your Fantasy Surfer team selections in, (by the way I am currently 58th in the world out of 17,000.) The location is the Portuguese town of Peniche, with a wave called Supertubos, known as the 'European Pipeline.' I am so keen to watch this event and I bet the surfers are pumped. There is a ridiculously close race to the world title in place, the last 2 events of the year are going to be all time! C'mon Parko it's your turn mate!
Tropical waves: For all you lucky frothers out there heading on an overseas surf trip soon, have fun! There are a few snaps of local Monawatian 'Neil Berrell' scattered through this weeks snapshow of his recent trip to the Maldives. Looked like a dream. Good times. |
The wind is relentless, still blowing hard out there. Looks like the best waves are going to be here for the weekend, so mow those lawns later in the week.
Have a ripper,
See you at the beach.
Cheers,
AL
