Snapshow
Sloppy Joes 27 Oct 09
When a surf photographer actually surfs every day it is not the best sign. The waves have not been epic. There were a few days with some fun ones in the mix, but on the whole it was standard onshore sloppy lumps shared with twenty other surfers, swimmers and gumbies. I saw quite a few boards collide with each other and people over the past week. Ouch, it is mayhem out there. Good for all the ding repairers.
Rip Curl Pro Search: This event has been a bit of a let down so far (like the rest of the European leg of the World Tour.) There are 6 days left in the waiting period and there are 16 surfers left to battle it out. We are yet to see waves ridden at Supertubos, so fingers crossed it turns on very soon. Northern Beaches surfer Kai Otton is still fighting, but hasn't got the easiest match-up in round 3 against Parko. Watch the action unfold here. |

Missing Mundaka: This pumping swell hit the quiet little fishing town of Mundaka just when the WCT left, headed for Portugal. What a nightmare, imagine Fanning, Slater and Parko on these bombs! |

Boat trips: Hayden Cox, the owner of Haydenshapes just got home from an amazing trip to the Mentawis. Aboard the luxury Tengirri for 11 nights, he scored some all time waves and did it in comfort. Looking at his photos and videos made me very jealous. When the surf is so bad here at home, it hurts so much to see these. See some of his snaps scattered through the snapshow. |

Club Of The Waves: is an international surfing, surf art, surf photography, history and culture site. It showcases surf photographers and artists, including interviews, exhibits, tutorials, blogs and much more... They recently added a profile for me which I am stoked about. Check it out here. |
Probably the most size out in the surf today and tomorrow. New small south swell 'for one day only' due on Friday, so keep your eyes on it.
Have a great week people, the sun will come back soon.
See you on the beach or out in the surf.
cheers,
Alex
