Busy week in and around the Northern Beaches. Heat waves, small waves and one day of good waves. The very laid-back Rob Machado dropped by for a quick visit to our shores. Melbourne Cup Day was a scorcher with people flying out of their stables straight down to the beach. Hope you won a packet on the race and ended the day with a swim.

	Portrait: This week meet Mona Vale's very own Luke 'Hollywood' Thomas. While Hollywood isn't gathering news for the people he enjoys riding Stacey, his logboard that just keeps on giving. An avid basketballer, he is the brains behind 'El paradisio' - which is much like a 'super group' not unlike Cream, ELO, Super Tramp or The Who, but in basketball form. Luke is forever on the hunt for a young lass who lives for roller-derby and tattoos. Every spare second of the busy life of Luke is spent honing his skills on the ping-pong table. Keep an eye on this kid, cause that name of his is on the hill in Los Angeles for a reason. Find images of Hollywood dancing on water scattered through this weeks snapshow.
	The Drifter: Rob Machado's new film 'The Drifter' premiered in Sydney last week, with Hurley putting on an epic night for everyone there with the help of Corona. The movie was amazing, really well written, shot and edited. Jump onto MeSurf for a full in-depth review of the film.
	Surfing Festival: Get down and check out the Manly Festival of Surfing this weekend. Millions of things going on down there. All kicked off today.

I am heading up North for the weekend. Friends are getting married, followed by beers and lots of surfing, fingers crossed for nice conditions. What's in store for the Northern Beaches? The experts are saying: East swell 2-3 foot with onshore winds all weekend. Fingers crossed they are slightly off the money this time.

Morning Report: Waves 2ft, swell NE ,wind WNW 20-35 knots easing. Blowing like stink offshore which has cleaned up yesterdays wind swell nicely but will continue to erode the size, 2ft on open beaches , hit it early as the tides on the way out and there will be a few hollow ones on offer before swells ironed out, winds will ease up later,,check Coastalwatch swell forecast.
