Snapshow
Blue Schralper 26 Feb 10
A week of waves for us Northern Beachians. Got to love it when that happens. Bit of onshore, that has to be expected. Bit junky at times, that too can be quite regular here in Old Sydney town. But, there were little gems all over the place, a few really fun banks formed in the right places and it was on.
Portrait: This week meet Adrian 'Ace' Buchan a Hurley backed world tour surfer from Avoca on the Central Coast. Ace, the huge Bluesnapper fan is an all round top bloke, the guy that will go out of his way to chat with you for a minute or three. Ace was recently down on the Northern Beaches representing his home club in the Jim Beam Surftag event. Ace dominated too, ripping the waves to pieces to put 'Avoca' in second place overall in the final. After a few injuries last year Ace is back and stronger than ever ready to give it his all in the WCT this year. Good luck to you mate, I'm calling top 10. Yew!
Quiksilver Pro: They are calling it the 'BEST' event... Big Call? Nope. If they get waves up on the Goldy over the next few weeks it is going to be crazy. Incredible surfers on tour this year, aerial experts, power surfers and a few other guys by the names of: Mick, Kelly, Joel, Taj and Bede. It has been said that the Snapper Banks are in perfect condition, I'm excited, you're excited. Watch it unfold here, tomorrow it's looking like Round 1 could be underway.
The Sugarmill Fine Surf Emporium: With a new shop comes a Grand Opening Sale, this is the weekend for it. The Insight campaign bus will be parked in the driveway serving up sausage sizzle and drinks. There will be bands, giveaways, heaps of discounted summer stock and crazy board deals from Misfit Surfboards. This shop looks incredible and you have not been to anything like it. The address is 2/1329 Pittwater rd, South Narra. Get there, check it out and say G'day to owners Chris and Dave.
Red Bull Heli Surf: On tomorrow the 27th Feb, 9am at Curl Curl Beach. Going to be pretty sick, get on down there to check it all out! If you can paddle (very well) you could win yourself a trip to the Quiksilver Pro.
Somewhere near Tapachula: This is a new documentary from the guys who made "Surfing in 50 States." That was epic, this is going to be better. It is screening around the country so get along to one of these and help raise money for a great cause. |
Today there were clean waves, looks like the next few days there will be a few more. Something a little more special could show up here middle of next week. A little longer a little higher. Hope so.
By the way I saw some dolphsharks today, they were the size of large sharks, but luckily swam like dolphins. Phew.
See you out there crew,
Cheers,
AL
