Snapshow
Rise. Snap. Float. 30 Mar 10
Not the pumping start to Autumn that we got last year, but still nothing to complain about.
This is supposed to be a 'weekly' rundown of the waves and happenings on the Northern Beaches. Sometimes the waves are just too fun and the surfing just too good for me to waste time staring at the computer screen.
I have been on the trigger like a mad man the past week or so and my lenses have seen some pretty amazing things.
Every single time I go out to shoot I get pretty stoked that this area is where I get to call home. What a dream.
Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach: The waiting period started today. The chicks are battling it out in the water right now. The surf is small and there is not a lot on the horizon for the next week or so. Will they move the event to find better waves? Who will win? The girls, now that's not too hard to pick. Steph. The men however... the match ups in round one are ridiculous. If the waves pick up and the comp is run in all time Bells conditions I'm putting my money on Owen Wright, Bobby Martinez and Kelly Slater. If the waves are smaller, it could be anyone ringing that bell this year. Watch it all unfold here.
Portrait: This week meet Jason Dundas a stoked on life, tone deaf, goofy footer with one of the best jobs around. When Jason isn't jet-setting around the globe for Getaway exploring the most amazing places ever, he likes to escape up to the Northern Beaches for a sneaky surf. I caught up with Jason for a wave and a chat up at Whaley last week. Favourite wave: the left point at Hanalei Bay, Kauai. Best place for a holiday? Best place to live? Carnival in Rio for a holiday and New York is the spot to live. Best job in the world? Terry Richardson. Best interview you've done? 50 cent, like chatting to a mate. What's in the pipeline for the next few months? I am about to hike Nepal for a month. You now live on the southside of the bridge, what do you miss most about the Northern Beaches? The breaky at Cafe 5 and the uncrowded mid-week lefts at the Wedge.
Tomorrows Tulips: Last night I grabbed a schnitty at the pub with Alex Knost and his girlfriend Christina. These guys are stoked to be playing music and pumped for their gig this Thursday at the Sugarmill and you should be too. Come join RVCA Clothing and the Sugarmill crew for an intimate evening of surf sounds by 'Tomorrows Tulips.' Thursday 1st April. 7:30pm.
Facebook Fan yourself. Thousands of you haven't yet? C'mon, make it snappy people!! it is so cool in there. |
Ok now for the approaching wave situation. There is some average news: grey, rainy and flat for the next few days. And some better news: a bit of a bump for the Easter weekend.
Drive safe, surf safe and eat your chocolate safely.
See you on the bee-arch.
Cheers,
AL
