Snapshow
carats camels croquettes castles 20 May 11
So as you may have noticed I'm not on the Northern Beaches at the moment. I did a bit of drop knee on the sand at Mona Vale and asked my beautiful girlfriend Lani to marry me. She said yes! Yew! I put a ring on her finger and a week later we took off on a 3 month whirlwind adventure around the world.
We go on 15 flights and see about as many countries. So far (as you'll see in the snapshow) we've explored Dubai, Oman, London, Amsterdam and the surrounding countryside, Berlin and Prague. I'm sitting in the airport at Budapest writing this and in 20min we board a flight to Croatia, where the real relaxing begins as we set sail on the Adriatic Sea for a week.
A few things I have learnt so far:
* In Dubai they like to build things, heaps of things, they also have a real passion for ridiculously expensive hotels and the tallest and most unique buildings in the world. We had a good Aussie BBQ here in Dubai. We stayed with my Dad and his wife Sarah and it was great.
* Oman has pizza hut.
* London can have blue skies. The Royals have it a bit too good and the steak and ale pies are pretty tasty. Here in London we ate Lebanese food.
* Amsterdam is hectic, and there are things to do other than get stoned. You can also drink and some people even get amongst the mushrooms. Heineken originated here, and the stupidly priced Heineken we drink in Australia is not even imported. Boo! Here in Holland we ate Indonesian and Mexican.
* Berlin has seen some serious shit. Hitler was way way way more of a bastard than you ever thought. We ate Italian and Thai food here.
*Prague is incredible. We scored amazing weather and saw some beautiful views. I caught up with a mate from high school (Jakub) who showed us a few of the local hangouts. Here we ate Thai and also had a taste of McDonald's. Oh yeah we actually tried some local Czech food here in Prague.
Catch up soon, enjoy the incredible waves back home.
Tomorrow I'll be singing "I'm on a boat."
Cheers,
AL
