Manly turns it on 17 Feb 12
Manly has turned it on big time this week. Perfect weather, massive crowds, ridiculous skating and although the waves have been small, the surfing has been all time. Yesterday Nat Young from the USA scored the first perfect 10 of the event!
The local Northern Beaches surfers are going pretty damn well too. This morning Cooper Chapman went down to wonder kid Kolohe Andino, but Cooper put in a really solid effort.
If you can get down to Manly today, do it. You will see all the top surfers in both the round of 48 and the round of 24, battling it out to stay in the event for the finals this weekend.
Win a trip of a lifetime: It's really quite easy. Buy a pair of boardies from Surf Dive and Ski this summer and you are in with a chance to win a 'trip of a lifetime.' Seriously the best competition I have ever seen. Now is your chance. Check it all out here. Yew
my quiver: I get a lot of emails asking what equipment I shoot my images with. The simple answer is 'expensive stuff.' The long answer is:
Canon lenses: 500mm f4.0L, 70-200mm f2.8L II, 24-70 f2.8L, 16-35 f2.8L, 50mm 1.4, 15mm f2.8 fisheye.
Aquatech water housings and shields.
But remember people, it's not about the gear you own, it's your passion and dedication that produces the image in the end.
The waves are small, but the sun is out. Better than the start to summer that's for sure.
Have a great weekend,
